Just got caught up on PCD in my podcast feed and listened to the Dolly episode! Personally I am not a HUGE fan of Barbara Streisand but my wife idolizes Babs. You were looking for a modern adaptation and there is a play production of Hello Dolly called “Matchmaker” that my wife actually started in a couple years ago.
Also she says the best babs film is Yentel so that should be the next on the list 🙂
